Divisional Children’s Officer, Adrian Kemp visited Kettering on 9th February 2014 to conduct the Young People’s Annual. This special day is held to celebrate the contribution our young folk make to the life of the Corps.
Adrian led the morning meeting, in which there was a real buzz of excitement and enthusiasm as both the young and not so young were encouraged to do things a little differently to the normal style of worship. During the afternoon session, each young person, from the Cradle Roll , Primary, Kids Alive and Youth group were presented with a book to thank them for all they have done during the past year. We are so blessed at Kettering to have such a large number of young people and thank God for them. It was good to have a larger than normal congregation for the afternoon, no doubt intrigued by the promise of a world premier performance! The Learners Band performed for the very first time, 17 youngsters, ably led by Derek Wears and supported by a number of helpers. It was fantastic to see them doing so well after just a few weeks of learning their instruments and we look forward to hearing them again soon.
Thanks to all the folk who work alongside the young people, for your patience, time and energy. We have much to look forward to in the coming year, not only with the Learners Band but with a new venture starting in March, a midweek Kids Club, who knows what will happen! May God bless the young people already connected with Kettering Corps and those in the community who will be contacted in the coming weeks.
