Sunday 26th April 2015 – Home & Family Sunday
Home League Secretary Barbara Hobbs led our worship on this special day, with the theme ‘Learning from Christ’.
The Home League singers commenced the meeting with the song “As the Deer”. They are always a joy to listen to, and today was no exception. Singing without books and with such passion, their phrasing and attention to the dynamics of the song meant that this well known song came across as clear and fresh, especially to those in the congregation who have heard or sang this song many times.
Both the Songsters and the Singing Company message was that ‘God So Loved the World’ and ‘Jesus Loves Me’, followed by the Senior Band reminding us to be thankful for this, with their piece ‘Now Thank We All Our God’. The YP Band played in the meeting and their piece ‘Hallelujah’ was also well received.
Barbara spoke about how we can often be too busy in our lives and in our Church to just take time to be in the presence of Christ and listen to Him and what He has to say to us. Retelling the Bible story of how Jesus came to visit Mary & Martha in their home to remind us to stop a while to listen and learn, as we may not always get another chance. Thank you Barbara for your message today and for the work you and your team do for the Home League and Family Ministries within Kettering Corps.
Monday 27th April 2015 Home League Rally (report by HLS Barbara Hobbs)
The Kettering Home League held their annual rally on Monday afternoon and what an afternoon it was. The special guests were the musical duo Mike and Jenny Clark and they gave us a great time. The hall was full with ladies (and some gentlemen) from many of the local church ladies groups. Mike and Jenny brought us a very contrasting programme filled with fun and also a thought provoking message. The Home League singers were included in the programme, and afterwards we all enjoyed a wonderful spread of food.
