A great evening was spent at the Citadel on Tuesday 14th July 2015 at the end of season open band rehearsal, with former bandsmen and friends of Kettering Citadel Band joining in a massed rehearsal under the leadership of Bandmaster Richard Phillips and 3 of the former Bandmasters, Don Manning, Roy Kirsopp and Michael Barratt.
Many had brought instruments and joined the band whilst others just came to listen. Old and new pieces were rehearsed and the former Bandmasters shared memories of years gone by before they were led in a final hymn tune and a time of Devotion, where BM Richard Phillips talked about one of his highlights of the recent Boundless Congress being the sheer diversity of Salvationists from around the world, and especially their different styles of worship. He spoke of how those gathered tonight had ‘come from the east and from the west’ and hoped that their time spent with the band had been time to sit down in Gods house, and that it had in some way been a sort of ‘oasis’ for each one gathered. There was then time to share in further fellowship with one another while refreshments were served.
KCB now take a break from rehearsals until September but they will still be taking part as usual in Sunday worship at the Citadel. Our thanks to the Bandmaster, Band Locals, every Bandsman and Bandswoman for all your efforts during this past year both in our Sunday services at the Citadel and especially when taking the gospel out to the people around the area.
